Our Father in Heaven, we come before you recognizing that you are over all rule and authority and power. We thank you for your love and mercy toward us and the United States of America. We thank you for our national heritage and the freedoms we enjoy in this country. We thank you that our leaders have recognized our dependence upon you and have set aside this day for prayer.

We come to intercede today for those you have placed in authority over us. We lift up the leaders from all levels of government before you - our President, Vice-President and the Cabinet members, our Supreme Court Justices, U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives, our State Governor and Lt. Governor, our State Senators and State Representatives, our State Court Justices, our County and City officials, our Mayor and Local Judges and our Law Enforcement Officers.

We ask that these leaders will recognize your authority over them, that they will seek what is good and right in your sight knowing that then you will be with them. May they see their positions as positions of responsibility, and not positions of personal power. We pray that you will keep them from falling into temptation and the snare of the devil. May they seek you and your will. May they know you as their God and Savior.

Father, help us to be subject to those in authority over us recognizing that our leaders are your ministers to us for good. May our prayers not be selfish prayers, but may we seek your will and not our own.

We ask your blessing in order that we may live tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity, that we may be free to spread the gospel, knowing that you desire all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

We ask for your forgiveness in not doing all you have given us to do. We remember your promise that if we humble ourselves and pray and seek your face and turn from our wicked way, then you will hear from Heaven and will forgive our sin and heal our land. Help us to see our responsibilities to you, Lord, and work in us, our leaders and our nation to bring honor and glory to yourself.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
