Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6,7 NIV

Paul thanked God as he remembered the Philippians and their sharing with him as he preached the gospel. They brought joy to him as he offered prayer for them. Although he was imprisoned, he was able to focus on Christ and not his circumstances. And others were able to speak the word of God without fear because of him.

His desire was to encourage them and help them find joy in their circumstances as well. Paul reminds us all that God gives us the honor not only of believing in Christ but also of suffering for Him, both of which bring glory to Christ. In Christ we find both our purpose and our pattern for life. Therefore, we are to find joy in serving God as he works in us. Paul wants us to rejoice in our suffering and share in the joy that he experienced through Christ.

Put no confidence in the flesh, but seek the prize, which is Christ in you the hope of glory. Nothing we obtain in this world compares to the surpassing value of knowing Jesus Christ. To know Christ and to be found in Him, to know the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering gives us hope of eternal life.

Rejoice in Christ's constant provision for your life. Be content in whatever circumstances come your way. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Wiersbe says that what we need is right praying, right thinking, and right action.

Worry and anxiety are the opposite of joy and peace. Instead of worrying about anything, we should pray about everything, giving thanks for every circumstance, prosperity and adversity alike. What happens in life is not important, what is important is that God is with us in every circumstance of life. Focus on the good in your life, focus on God. God hears our prayers and blesses us with every good and perfect gift.

God's goodness to us is not solely for our own benefit and pleasure. He wants us to pass along to others the good gifts He brings our way. What blessings has God brought to you? Whatever they are, He wants you to share His good gifts with those around you. He especially wants you to share the gift of the gospel, the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. Think of someone right now who might be open to receiving the blessing of eternal life, pray for them, and then pass it along!
